The State of Texas enacted the Crime Victims’ Compensation (CVC) program in 1979 to help innocent victims. The Crime Victims’ Compensation Program is administered by the Office of the Attorney General and is dedicated to ensuring that eligible victims of violent crime, after meeting certain criteria, are provided financial assistance for crime-related expenses that cannot be reimbursed by insurance or other sources. CVC does NOT pay for any property damage or replacement of property. Contact the CVC liaison of your local police department for an application and guidance through the process.
